The SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust seeks to provide investment results that, before expenses, correspond generally to the price and yield performance of the S&P 500 Index. For SPY Options Trading, SPDR call and put options have an underlying value of 100 SPDRs so, for example, if the SPDR is priced at 1.00, the underlying notional value covered by one SPDR option would be $100. With Monday, Wednesday & Friday expirations priced in increments of $0.50, SPY options are the bread and butter for Fibonacci trading and trend trading strategies and the most popular asset to learn to trade options.
